AEW President Tony Khan appeared on Busted Open Radio in his usual weekly time slot and discussed AEW Dynamite and Rampage this week from New York City.
Khan would reveal that he plans on doing a New York-based show every year; the events taking place in Arthur Ashe Stadium on Wednesday and Friday are massively historic, as they’re the first pro wrestling events in the building ever.
“It’s pretty amazing when you can be the first wrestling show in such a historic, awesome venue that’s very famous worldwide” Tony Khan began. “It’s known throughout America as the home of the US Open, but the US Open is watched in most countries in the world.
“It’s a pretty prestigious event and it’s cool that the Park District and the US Open folks agreed to have AEW Grand Slam. I’m really hoping it’s something we can do in New York with Arthur Ashe Stadium every year’ Khan concluded.
The two cards taking place this week in New York are PPV quality; likely to be some of the biggest ratings draws for the company this year with CM Punk wrestling on Friday.
