AEW Full Gear 2023 looked to be a pretty strong show on paper, but did the action we had hoped to see live up to the PPV billing?
A number of major matches were confirmed for the show ahead of time, with the main event between MJF and Jay White for the AEW Championship looking like a potential MOTY candidate.
‘Timeless’ Toni Storm was also in a big bout on the card, attempting to regain the AEW Women’s Championship against Hikaru Shida.

Zero Hour PreShow Card
- Ring of Honor World Championship Match: Eddie Kingston (c) b. Jay Lethal – Kingston hit the spinning backhand to take the pin and retain his title
- Claudio Castagnoli b. Buddy Matthews – Castagnoli took the win with the Sharpshooter
- Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championship Match: MJF (c) and Samoa Joe b. The Gunns – Joe locked in the Coquina Clutch to take the win and retain the belts for MJF and Adam Cole. After the match, The Gunns attacked MJF’s knee and ankle in front of Cole who appeared for morale support during the bout.
Main Card
- Sting, Darby Allin and Adam Copeland b. Christian Cage, Luchasaurus and Nick Wayne – Copeland took the pinfall win after Allin hit a Coffin Drop on Luchasaurus
- AEW International Championship Match: Orange Cassidy (c) b. Jon Moxley – Cassidy got the pin following six Orange punches and a Beach Break
- AEW Women’s World Championship Match: Toni Storm b. Hikaru Shida – Storm put a small tray in her trunks and hit the Hip Attack in the corner on Shida to win the title.
- Ladder Match for AEW World Tag Team Championship: Ricky Starks and Big Bill (C) b. FTR vs. Kings of the Black Throne vs. La Faccion Ingobernable – Starks climbed the ladder to grab the belts and retain the titles for his team
- TBS Championship Match: Julia Hart b. Kris Statlander (c) vs. Skye Blue – Hart stole the pin from Statlander on Blue to become the NEW TBS Champion
- Texas Deathmatch: Swerve Strickland b. Hangman Adam Page – Strickland took the win after a HELLACIOUS match when Page couldn’t answer the ten count outside the right
- The Golden Jets b. The Young Bucks – Omega took the win for his team after hitting the One Winged Angel. The Golden Jets are now the #1 contenders for the AEW Tag Team Championships
- AEW World Championship Match: MJF (C) vs. Jay White – Adam Cole was originally replacing MJF in this match as Maxwell was taken to hospital, but MJF returned just as the new match was about to start in an ambulance. MJF hit White with the Dynamite Diamond Ring to get the pinfall and the win
