AEW has seen a number of departures in recent weeks and it’s possible that one more star may say goodbye to the promotion soon.

According to Fightful Select, the contract of Brian Cage, who signed with the company in 2020 is reaching its end. His original contract was for 2 years only but the company had picked up the option to extend his deal last year:

“Cage’s contract is set to expire in a matter of weeks, Fightful Select has learned. Cage’s deal was set to expire last year as well, before his option year was picked up by All Elite Wrestling. We were told at the time that Cage was pleasantly surprised as he didn’t expect to have his option picked up after not being on TV for months.”

AEW contract coming up

Cage alongside Kaun and Toa Liona are the current ROH Six Man Tag Team Champions. Brian Cage in particular has received praise for his work since his TV return in mid-2022. The site claims that WWE has also shown interest in signing the athlete:

“There have been feelers within WWE that have gauged the company’s interest in bringing Cage in, we’re told. Though we aren’t sure if there’s particular interest on either side.”

You would think that Cage is absolutely someone that WWE would be interested in bringing in, and it looks like it could actually happen at some point this year.
