Former WWE NXT Superstar Bronson Reed was shockingly released from the company a couple of months ago. The former NXT North American Champion appeared to be on his way to the main roster of WWE before the company opted to release him from his contract.
The ‘Colossus’ Bronson Reed reportedly already had plans laid out by WWE creative for the main roster before Vince McMahon made the decision to release him from the company.
Andrew Zarian confirmed on the Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast that WWE had plans for Reed, saying, “Oh, he was getting called up, they had plans already.”
Dave Meltzer recently noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Triple H and Shawn Michaels had no say in who was removed from the NXT roster.

McMahon reportedly wants to take the NXT brand and developmental system back to younger talent big in stature. Developmental in the past for WWE has created Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Batista and Randy Orton from developmental, which is what the WWE Chairman wants to get back to.
Reed had his final NXT match against Adam Cole, who is also potentially on his way out of the company in the next few weeks after he signed a short extension to stay just beyond WWE SummerSlam 2021.
Bronson Reed reacted to his WWE release on Twitter shortly after the news was made public, saying, “you don’t know what you’ve done #WWE” before @ing ROH, AEW, IMPACT and New Japan Pro Wrestling.
