Chris Jericho match loses tons of viewers on AEW Dynamite

Last updated

Ring of Honor Champion Chris Jericho defended his title on this past week’s episode of AEW Dynamite against Colt Cabana.

Wrestlenomics has now released the quarter-hour ratings and viewership for the November 2nd 2022 episode of the show, and Jericho’s match actually lost viewers.

Jericho vs Cabana actually lost 14% in viewership in the quarter-to-quarter ratings, with the previous fifteen minutes having an average of 1.020 million compared to the ROH title match’s 880,000 viewers.

The prior segment featured The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn cutting a live promo as well as Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter. It is likely that The Acclaimed segment drew the number for that quarter-hour.

Bafflingly, Jericho actually cut a short promo hyping the ROH title match in the prior 15-minute segment ahead of his bout with Cabana, but it STILL lost viewership.

Fans were told ahead of the show that there would be a ‘previous ROH Champion’ going up against the ‘Ocho,’ so even that wasn’t enough to draw fans in.

Clearly, Ring of Honor content is really starting to have a big detrimental effect on the company, as the Samoa Joe match in the main event only drew 738,000 viewers on average overall.
