AEW ripped for ‘dumping’ CM Punk after poor ratings

All Elite Wrestling has been ripped for seemingly ‘dumping’ CM Punk in favour of The Elite in light of poor ratings on Dynamite.

This week’s episode of the show on TBS Network started with over a million viewers and ended up falling to around 800,000 by the end of the night.

Writing for PWInsider, Dave Scherer slated the company for their approach to the ‘Brawl Out’ situation, with the loss of Punk seemingly being very bad for ratings.

CM Punk AEW Dynamite Ratings

“The recent pattern has shown that fewer viewers give the show a try at the start post Punk and less stay for the end” Scherer began.

“The main event match segment lost over 23% from the opening quarter. It should be noted that every other quarter on the show lost viewers as well, but none came close to the drop that the last two quarters, which featured the EVPs, did” he added.

We still do not officially know what the situation is regarding Phil Brooks and his status with All Elite Wrestling.

Recent rumors have indicated that he may well be staying, as Tony Khan appears to be unwilling to buy him out of his contract. However, it’s not looking likely right now that we will ever see the former WWE Champion back on AEW programming.
