Conflicting reports regarding the status of CM Punk continue to pour in.
There has been a lot of confusion over the future of Punk with AEW. At one point, everyone was sure that the former AEW champion would be making his return at the debut episode of the company’s new weekly show – Collision.
The officials, however, had to remove him from the promotional material for the show just before it was officially announced. Reports that have since come out suggest that the two parties have had a disagreement over the status of Ace Steel.
Productive conversations with CM Punk
Fightful Select provided the latest update on the situation. They noted that CM Punk and AEW have remained in contact. They also addressed the rumors that AEW has threatened Punk with legal action:
“Regarding rumors that Punk was served with legal papers, we’ve been told that some documents were sent to Punk to be signed over the last week We haven’t been given indication they were legal threats but told they covered speaking about certain subjects, disparagement clauses, and ensuring he appears at scheduled television dates, largely to protect AEW in several situations.”
The good news for fans is that the conversation between the two parties has been productive. People close to the former champion believe he will be returning at the first Collision taping as originally planned:
“From the Punk side of things, we’ve heard that there have been productive conversations over the last week, though we weren’t provided a lot of context to that. People close to Punk believe he will be at the first AEW Collision on June 17.”
