CM Punk: Tony Khan addressed the crowd ahead of AEW debut

Last updated

Former WWE Superstar CM Punk made his long-awaited debut for All Elite Wrestling on this week’s episode of AEW Rampage.

This was the first time in 7 years that Punk had confirmed he would wrestle, and he is not set to face Darby Allin at the AEW All Out PPV event on September 5.

AEW President Tony Khan addressed the crowd minutes before CM Punk would debut for the company, thanking fans for their faith and saying that it would be rewarded.

‘I always dreamed to bring wrestling here” Tony Khan began, discussing the United Center in Chicago. “I always wanted it to be the biggest, greatest night imaginable.”

“And tonight, I promise you, [we’re] bringing you something very special tonight at ’˜The First Dance’’ Khan then continued.

‘It’s almost time for Rampage, everyone. We’re gonna have a great night tonight. I appreciate every single one of you. I appreciate you putting your faith in us. I appreciate you trusting us. Thank you for believing in AEW! Your faith will be rewarded tonight. Thank you, Chicago! I love you!’ the AEW President concluded.

Punk will be appearing this Wednesday night on AEW Dynamite in Milwaukee. It is likely that we will not see the former WWE Superstar in action until the All Out PPV on September 5th against Darby Allin, although the company may decide to give him a tune-up match ahead of the event.
