All Elite Wrestling Champion CM Punk recently gave his take on Vince McMahon retiring from WWE, and he was pretty honest about it.
Speaking to the Absolute Geek podcast, Punk laughed off the idea that McMahon won’t still be hands-on with the product.
‘You think because he [McMahon] tweeted that ’˜I’m retired’ that he’s not going to be hands-on, and he’s not gonna [run the show]?’ Punk began, responding to a question on McMahon’s retirement.
“Sure, we all are [hopeful of a change], but I don’t think the structure there’¦what’s the word I’m looking for’¦ I don’t think the culture there changes. At all. I think it is what it is” Punk concluded.
CM Punk on Vince McMahon
It remains to be seen whether McMahon has truly left the company, even though most of the moves the company are taking seem to indicate that.
Triple H is now the Head of Creative and Head of Talent Relations. Stephanie McMahon and Nick are now the co-CEOs of the company, so really, there’s not a huge amount Vince can be hands-on with.
Even if Vince still wanted to run things, WWE is a public company, so it would have to be addressed in shareholder meetings, and that won’t be a great look if he is doing it secretly.
