Jade Cargill is going to be taking time off from AEW after Double or Nothing.

The Double or Nothing PPV saw a shocking title change that not many had expected to see. Cargill was booked for a match against Taya Valkyrie for the TBS title at the show. The 30-year-old won this match using her Jaded finishing move and extended her undefeated streak to 60.

Mark Sterling then grabbed the mic and claimed that there was nobody left to challenge the TBS champion. This prompted the return of Kris Statlander leading to an impromptu match. To the surprise of everyone, Statlander ended up defeating Cargill, ending her 500+ days reign.

Jade Cargill: Loss was planned in advance

Fightful Select provided some updates on this shocking title change. They revealed that it wasn’t a last minute decision and the title change had been in the works for a while:

“Statlander has been planned as the person to take the TBS Title from Jade Cargill for quite some time ’“ dating back at least several weeks, we’ve learned, and there’s more than meets the eye.”

The site also confirmed that Jade Cargill will be taking some time off after dropping the title. The plan is for her to return with a personality shift:

“Fightful has learned that Jade Cargill is slated to take some time off soon, if not immediately, before returning to the ring with a personality shift down the road.”
