NJPW legend Yuji Nagata appeared recently on AEW Dynamite. The Japanese wrestling legend faced Jon Moxley for the IWGP United States title in a bout that saw Moxley enter the building to The Troggs’ Wild Thing.
Moxley’s theme was used as a tribute to Atsushi Onita, the FMW legend. The whole match was a love letter to Japanese wrestling and Moxley appeared to be in his element the entire time.
Jon Moxley of course retained his Championship, however the on-screen treatment of Nagata as a genuine legend surely would have gone down well with NJPW officials. Rocky Romero was actually in attendance, so the likelihood of more NJPW/AEW crossover is certainly on the cards.
Yuji Nagata Wants To Return To AEW Dynamite
It was reported in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Yuji Nagata was very happy with his time in All Elite Wrestling and the AEW Dynamite show. “Yuji Nagata said he enjoyed his time in AEW and would like to return” Dave Meltzer wrote. “He said Tony Khan told him that anytime he wants to come back he’s welcome.”
It’s worth noting that Rocky Romero will be in action this coming week on AEW Dark: Elevation.
