Paul Wight thinks Vince McMahon would be pissed at AEW’s creation but ‘in a good way’

The wrestling veteran has worked under the billionaire promotor for decades. Competing in WWE as The Big Show, Wight lived many of his career highlights there. Though he was also subjected to some humiliating storylines during his time in the company.

Wight surprisingly left the company in early 2021 to join Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling. The former World Champion has been serving as a commentator for the promotion. He has recently been teasing an in-ring return as Captain Insano for the ALL IN PPV this Sunday.

Vince McMahon likes competition

While speaking to Inside The Ropes to promote the upcoming Wembley Stadium Show, Paul Wight was asked how Vince McMahon feels about AEW. The wrestling giant claimed that McMahon is pissed:

“Oh, well, I think he’s pissed. I think he’s absolutely pissed, but he’s pissed in a good way. He’s the type that likes competition. He likes that challenge. Vince [has] very much animal, jungle-type mentality. Vince is a guy that thrives on competition or thrives on doing new things, thrives on being the best in his mind at what he does, so when you know competition steps up, that fires Vince up more than anything.”

According to Wight, the worst thing that can happen to Vince McMahon is being bored. He explained how this mentality is also good for pro wrestling:

“The worst thing that can happen to Vince McMahon is to be bored, monotonous, you know? If he’s got competition, it fires him up to be better, which is a win for the fans because they’ll get a better product, and it’s good for us because we produce a better product, too.“
