Shawn Spears says his time in the ring is coming to an end.
The former WWE star has been in the wrestling business for over two decades. There have been many ups and downs in his career but he seems to have settled down now.
The 42-year-old opened his own wrestling school with fellow WWE alumni Tyler Breeze back in 2019. He joined AEW the same year and Spears has reduced his time in the ring since then.
Shawn Spears is winding down in AEW
The AEW star opened up about his future in a new interview with WrestleZone. Spears who is currently feuding with Bullet Club Gold in AEW was asked if he would be featured more in coming times. He said that his role in AEW is pretty set:
‘So whether or not I’m going to be highlighted coming back, I don’t think that’s going to be a thing. I think my role in AEW is pretty set. I, for lack of a better [phrase], I don’t care anymore. I want to go out and have banger matches, I wanna wrestle Jay White, I wanna wrestle FTR, I wanna wrestle Wardlow, I wanna wrestle Max.”
Shawn Spears explained that his goal is wrestling these names and having great matches because he is winding down. According to Spears, he wants to have banger matches before riding off into the sunset:
“I wanna wrestle these guys because I’m winding down. My time is coming to an end. I wanna have banger matches before I’m done, get it out of my system and ride off into the sunset.’
