One of the many things AEW has chosen to do differently than WWE is the PPV model. Running only 4 PPVs in a year has helped give a special feel to each show, but could this be changing soon?

The AEW President Tony Khan discussed the potential of expanding their PPV schedule during an appearance on The Jon Chuckery Show (H/t Fightful). He mentioned that the company has managed to make the events feel special. Khan added that without a steaming service, the current setup makes the most sense for them:

‘There are different ways to deliver shows now in the streaming economy, but I think in this current setup, we have a great calendar. If the delivery method changed or streaming enters the conversation for AEW because an AEW streaming platform is something I get asked about every day.”

AEW has the capacity

Following the Never Say Never tradition of the wrestling business, Tony Khan added that things could change in the future. According to him, the company does have the capacity to add more shows:

“I think for us right now, the way we’re doing pay-per-view makes sense, but if the right offer came along on streaming to expand the calendar, that’s something we have the capacity to do.”
