The Big Show, known as Paul Wight in AEW has been teasing the return of Captain Insano for a while now.
The former world champion has discussed bringing the character to AEW TV multiple times and even revealed that Tony Khan has acquired the rights for the same. The gimmick itself, however, has yet to make its debut on All Elite programming.
Appearing on Robbie Fox’s My Mom’s Basement (H/t Wrestlingnews.co), Khan provided an update on the former WWE star. He first claimed that seeing him around in AEW is great:
“Captain Insano is really fun. Paul, seeing him, around has been great and Paul Wight is such an awesome presence in pro wrestling.”
Has Big Show Paul Wight left AEW and Tony Khan?
Tony Khan then revealed that Paul Wight has been injured for the majority of his AEW run. Khan explained that Paul is not able to travel a lot of times. He claimed that Wight has worked really hard and deserves opportunities in AEW:
“Unfortunately, a lot of his time in AEW he’s been hurt. He’s great on commentary when he’s able to travel and I think he has a great future. Frankly, I think he’s worked really really hard at it and deserves opportunities there. So I have a lot of great things to say about Paul Wight.”
