Valentina Shevchenko

It has been confirmed that UFC Flyweight Champion Valentina Shevchenko will be defending her title at UFC 261 against Jessica Andrade. The lines sit with the dominant flyweight Champion as a -335 favourite. Her opponent, the former strawweight champion Andrade, is the +275 underdog.

Shevchenko has now defended her title on four occasions, with her most recent win coming at UFC 255 against Jennifer Maia. That bout took place in November 2020, so Valentina Shevchenko has had a good amount of time away from the octagon to prepare for her first fight in this calendar year.

UFC 261 in Jacksonville, Florida

There has been a lot of talk surrounding the return of crowds to UFC events. With the COVID-19 pandemic still not fully cleared, it is interesting that the company has opted to run a full capacity show, especially with the state of Florida allowing it. Both WWE and AEW currently host their shows in Florida, however WWE has no fans in attendance and AEW has a limited capacity.

Dana White spoke about the event on a recent video press release. ‘You know I am bringing an incredible card. This is a stacked card in front of 15,000 fans. Ladies and gentlemen, we are back. Thank you Jacksonville, I love you guys and we will see you soon.’
