AEW star is leaving because she wants to be appreciated for her work

Last updated

Vickie Guerrero has decided to leave AEW because of the lack of opportunities in the company.

The former SmackDown General Manager joined the Tony Khan-owned promotion back in 2020. She was appointed manager for former AEW Women’s Champion Nyla Rose. Compared to her time in WWE, her presence on AEW TV has not been significant.

The wrestling personality recently revealed that she has decided to leave the company. Her contract with the promotion expires in July, and the two sides have agreed not to renew the deal.

Vickie Guerrero wants to be appreciated

The former WWE star explained the reason behind this decision during an interview with Denise Salcedo. Vickie Guerrero claimed that she needed to be somewhere where she is appreciated:

‘My character wasn’t progressed for the three years, and opportunities weren’t given. I just felt like, for me, as a professional decision, I needed to go somewhere else where I’m able to be the character that I want to be and to be appreciated for the work that I can present inside the ring.”

Guerrero said that she will miss managing Nyla Rose and Maria Shafir but she is ready to move on. She claimed that AEW is gonna be very successful, and she has just decided to take a different road:

“I get to say I was there, and I’m ready to move on and bet on myself. So with the way doors have opened, I’m very grateful, and I know that AEW’s gonna be very successful, and they’re gonna do great stuff in the future. I just want to take a different road.’
