AEW has done a great job creating new stars in the short history of the promotion. One such homegrown star for the company is Darby Allin, who many consider the next Jeff Hardy. On the other hand, Hardy himself has become a fan of Darby. So their first interaction was every bit as awkward as you would imagine.
During the Ad Free Supershow Media Scrum (H/t WrestlingInc), Jeff detailed his first meeting with the fellow high flyer. He remembered that Tony Khan actually introduced the two and mentioned how everyone considers Allin to be the new Jeff Hardy:
‘Darby Allin, I met Darby and I kind of marked out a million times at first. He said ’˜hey man, I’m Darby.’ I said ’˜hey man, I’m Jeff.’ The first time I saw Darby,
Tony Khan, actually first time I met him said there is this guy called Darby Allin. They’re saying he’s the new Jeff Hardy.’ And then I started watching and people used to say I’m the next Shawn Michaels. I don’t believe in that at all. He’s the first Darby Allin.”
Hardy also commented on a potential match with The Young Bucks. He recalled seeing them wrestle in Columbia and said that getting in the ring with them will be amazing.
