Fans loved the WWE and AEW’s Wednesday Night War that started in October 2019 as AEW Dynamite and NXT went head-to-head every week. AEW Dynamite would win in the ratings war for the majority of the time. The Wars finally came to an end in April last year after NXT moved to Tuesday nights.
The war lasted for 76 weeks between the two brands. Only on one occasion, AEW did lose in the key 18 to 49 demographic rating against NXT. This was seen as a shock to many, but AEW bounced back.
AEW Dynamite and NXT will once again go head to head
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that AEW Dynamite and NXT will be going head-to-head once again on October 18th, which will be the first time they clashed in over a year. This is due to Major League Baseball’s post-season schedule:
“AEW and WWE will have dates changed due to the upcoming Major League playoffs. There will be an October 17th head-to-head on Tuesday night with Dynamite in Cincinnati and NXT, the first time they’ve gone head-to-head in over a year. I’m sure both will load up their shows as AEW is in on an unfamiliar night, NXT I’m sure they will load up their show as well.”
It is to be seen which band emerges on top this time around.
