AEW usually has the reputation of building long term storyline for their matches. This wasn’t the case however, for the Andrade vs. 10 match that had originally been announced for this week’s episode of Rampage. The bout where the former NXT champion was supposed to put his AEW career on the line was given only a week’s build.
F4Wonline’s Dave Meltzer recently revealed a potential reason behind this decision. He explained that both the company management and Andrade himself decided to capitalize on the buzz around him with this match:
‘The actual reason it was booked like this is because AEW and Andrade both wanted to take advantage of the publicity that he wanted out, thinking that this was the story to write him out. The idea was it had to happen this week because people will move on from the Andrade wanting out story very quickly.’
This match has since been cancelled in light of the backstage altercation between Andrade and Sammy Guevara. The fight that took place before Dynamite this week allegedly saw Andrade throwing punches at Sammy. Both the stars had been warned about getting physical before the show and the former WWE star was sent home following the fight.
