Tony Khan has landed in hot waters with some fans over the debut of Satnam Singh. The former NBA talent made his presence felt on this week’s Dynamite, attacking the new ROH TV champion Samoa Joe. The lights went out for his debut but the whole angle fell flat with minimal to no reaction to Singh’s arrival.

Khan explained his side of things during his weekly Busted Open appearance (H/t Fightful). He said that in hindsight, he now sees that he should’ve done things differently:

“There are things about it that I probably should’ve done differently, now that I see in hindsight. To be honest, it wasn’t my idea to turn the lights out.”

The AEW owner also claimed that the idea of turning the light off for the debut came from someone with ‘over 30 years of experience’ in pro wrestling. Nobody else in the room decided to bring up the negative side of it when it was pitched:

“To be honest, the person who brought off turning the lights off has over 30 years of experience in pro wrestling. When they brought it up to me, I was only looking at the pros and I should have thought about the cons, because that is my job as the person who decides what goes in and who filters out these ideas. We have all these people in the room and somehow, not one person brought up the negative.”
