Deontay Wilder is set to compete this Saturday against Joseph Parker at the Day of Reckoning card from Saudi Arabia, but he’s also looking beyond that.

Speaking to LuckyBlock, the Bronze Bomber claimed that he could “adapt to any combat sport” and would beat Francis Ngannou in MMA.

“Why wouldn’t I be able to do it? Why can’t I select my battlefield, it’s only a battlefield” the Heavyweight star began, discussing a move to the likes of the PFL.

“Whether it’s the ring or the octagon – hell we can step outside in the backyard, that’s a battlefield. We can go in the pig pen, we can go in the field full of mud and let the best man come out. I’m a combat sport fighter, I’m a gladiator and I have no fear for no man but my lord and saviour, so why would I not step in that ring, or that octagon, or whatever it may be, to show the world my greatness? I have no fear. Whatever I believe in I will die for. I’ll put my life on the line for it. And that’s with everything. If there’s any doubt, just watch and wait and see.”

Deontay Wilder vs Francis Ngannou – PFL

Whether or not we do actually see Wilder vs Ngannou in the PFL cage remains to be seen, but considering the pedigree that Ngannou showed in his debut against Tyson Fury, you could even make the argument that Ngannou would be a decent fight for Wilder in the squared circle.

Wilder would also reveal during the interview that there were actually talks for him to face Ngannou at some point, noting: “Me and Francis were supposed to fight first [before Fury] but because of different circumstances it didn’t happen, but it’s cool because it was better for him to go and participate in a boxing match.

“It’s made it bigger and better for him because he’s made a name for himself in boxing to the point it’s getting people excited about a fight with the likes of me. Those talks have been discussed and there are more talks to be discussed. I’ve got a few meetings with different people, CEO’s of the company [PFL] to talk about certain things and to see what happens in the future.”
