Welterweight Josh Kelly will be taking on David Avanesyan this Saturday night for Matchroom Boxing’s next event. The show will be taking place at the SSE Arena, Wembley on February 20th, live on Sky Sports in the UK and on DAZN in the U.S. and more than 200 countries and territories.
Speaking during the media press conference, Kelly answered questions regarding the fight and the preparation beforehand. His opponent David Avanesyan is coming off of wins against Jose Del Rio and Kerman Lejarraga and Kelly was asked if he thinks this boost will affect how Avanesyan approaches the fight itself.

“On Saturday night? No” Kelly replied. “But in mindset? Maybe. I mean, it could be his downfall as well. He might think that he’s going to be able to walk through us, which is not really the case. I’m a lot bigger and a lot stronger than he thinks I am. I’m a big, big 147, so when I get in there he will feel it.”
There’s been a lot of talk regarding Kelly and potential fight against Conor Benn, and Josh Kelly recently said that he will answer those calls after he fights Avanesyan. “End of the day, going through history, someone’s gotta win and someone’s gotta lose. Be it football, tennis, boxing, rugby whatever it is. So, it is what it is, but I just need to get through one fight at a time and win this one.”
Josh Kelly also confirmed that he got a hold of a PS5, lucky git.
