WBA, IBF and WBO Lightweight Champion Teofimo Lopez recently discussed the influence of Floyd Mayweather on his career.

Lopez told Sky Sports News that Mayweather has inspired him to stay “disciplined” for upcoming super fights in the division. Most notably against the likes of Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia.

The Brooklyn based fighter had a strong 2020, including his win over Vasiliy Lomachenko back in October. The Ring magazine also honoured the 23-year-old with “co-fighter of the year.”

“I learned that from Floyd” Lopez say to Sky Sports News. “Floyd was always someone that stayed motivated. He knew what was at hand. He was always staying in shape for a reason, because he never got caught up in it, and because he was so disciplined.”

“It’s all about discipline. The moment you are disciplined and you have that self-discipline? You are able to do these things without it being so hard” Lopez continued.
