Former MMA and Star Wars franchise star Gina Carano was fired by Lucafilm and Disney back in February.
‘Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,’ said Lucasfilm in a statement released at the time of Carano’s firing.
‘Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable” the company added.
Now, Carano has had to go public following more comments regarding her character. Former U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp recently labelled Gina Carano a ‘Nazi’ on a recent episode of Real Time with Bill Maher.
Gina Carano Reacts To Senator Comments
“Here we have more of the dehumanizing phase of cancel culture,” the former Strikeforce athlete tweeted. “Repeat lies over and over until the population takes them as ‘truth’.”
“False, disturbing & disgusting language coming from a former US Senator Heidi Heitkamp” Carano added. “You knew as soon as you said it you were liable.”
The comments stem from an Instagram post made by Gina Carano. The post in question compared how Republicans are treated in America to the treatment of Jewish people in Nazi Germany.
“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors… even by children… Because history is edited” Carano wrote. “Most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews.”
“The government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews” Carano concluded. “How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”
Dana White on Carano
UFC President Dana White also commented on the situation back in February. ‘Leave Gina alone,’ Dana White said during the pre-fight media scrum for UFC 258. ‘Listen, we make mistakes. We all make mistakes.’
Gina Carano revealed back in 2019 that she was in talks with the UFC to join the promotion. These were halted after text message conversations between Carano and White sent sour.
‘Dana was out there talking about me and talking about my name and telling people that he was going to sign me and I don’t even have a team yet,’ Carano began. ‘And I was like, that is not what we discussed. You were supposed to give me at least six months to find a team.”
“Then he started trying to put on the pressure through the media” Carano continued. “It was a bummer because I told him over a text message that it was not what we had talked about. I need time, and now I am going to walk into a gym and people know that’s what I’m doing and I needed to build trust and find people.’
