New Japan Pro Wrestling announced during their Wrestle Kingdom 15 show that there will be a television show coming to US and UK screens. Although it is not confirmed exactly what the programme may look like? The NJPW Global Twitter account sent out a tweet with a promo video for the new show.
NJPW Strong already airs on NJPWWorld and is a weekly programme with matches based in the United States. NJPW has had a United States television deal in the past; with AXS TV airing shows shortly after they appeared live on NJPWWorld. Many of these shows would be commentated on by Jim Ross and Josh Barnett.
NJPW Television
It is not confirmed at this point what channel/network NJPW will be airing on in the US and UK. NJPW’s UK partner Rev Pro was previously airing on the FreeSports channel, which is available in most homes with Freeview. This television deal was however short lived and the ratings were not reportedly fantastic.
With NJPW now joining the UK line up it means that fans can access WWE, AEW, IMPACT and now NJPW all on mainstream UK channels. This could end up being a big deal for New Japan, especially if they’re looking to expand further into the West as we head in 2021.
