Former independent wrestling star Blake Christian made his NXT debut on this week’s episode of the show. The former IMPACT X-Division star appeared in the open challenge match against Cruiserweight Champion KUSHIDA.
Now know as Trey Baxter, the former Super X-Cup finalist had an impressive first showing against KUSHIDA, and Triple H praised the newcomer to WWE programming on Twitter.
‘An impressive debut. A fighting champion” Triple H tweeted. “@KUSHIDA_0904 and @TreyBaxterWWE DELIVERED!!! #AndStill #WWENXT.’
Trey Baxter would respond to ‘The Game,’ writing ‘such a surreal moment, with no feelings to describe. If you kept up with me before you know it’s just the beginning.”
“If you’re new, buckle up and enjoy the ride” Trey Baxter added. “@WWENXT just became #ALLHEART.’
Trey Baxter Joins WWE NXT
Trey Baxter was originally signed by WWE past part of a late February WWE Performance Center Class. That class of talent looks extremely impressive on paper, with several top recruits being brought into the fold.
Carmelo Hayes, Franky Monet, Parker Boudreaux, Bronson Rechsteiner, Zayda Ramier, Zoey Stark, Gigi Dolin, Asher Hale, and more were part of that class.
Baxter has an impressive independent career resume even beyond his time on the IMPACT roster, having appeared for the likes of GCW and Warrior Wrestling. Couple this with his time on NJPW STRONG, and the new Cruiserweight addition to the NXT roster looks set to have a solid career in NXT.
