Samoa Joe Makes WWE Return On NXT This Week

Former WWE Superstar Samoa Joe has made his return to the company, albeit on the NXT brand. Joe appeared during the first segment of this week’s episode of the show, joining William Regal and Karrion Kross in the ring.

Regal opened the show to say that he was going to retire from his position as General Manager. Before Regal could officially confirm the news, NXT Champion Karrion Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux interrupted him. Joe then finally made his way out to the ring, saying that Regal “wanted to speak with him.”

William Regal asked Samoa Joe if he would consider becoming the new NXT General Manager, a position that Samoa Joe would not take due to his respect for Regal and his long 7-year tenure with the NXT brand. Joe would instead become somewhat of an enforcer for Regal.

The rest of the episode then contained some teasers for potential Samoa Joe matches down the line. Joe was told by Regal that he could not attack any Superstars, unless ‘provoked.’ This lead to some intense staredowns throughout the night with Karrion Kross, Pete Dunne and Johnny Gargano.

It has not been confirmed if Joe is cleared to return to action once again, however he did get physical during this week’s episode of NXT. Joe was part of a backstage vignette where he shoved Kyle O’Reilly and put Adam Cole in a sleeper.

It is looking promising for Joe, who has seemingly added a huge spark to an NXT product that was beginning to feel quite stale. Hopefully the company can keep him feeling fresh in his new role for the next few months at least.
