UFC fighter Khamzat Chimaev recently spoke to ESPN. Despite reports that Chimaev had retired from MMA (with even Khamzat saying as such) the prospect will be returning to the octagon this year.
‘When I come back to my country, they helped me and did an operation that took some stuff, I don’t know how to explain in English,’ Chimaev began, speaking to ESPN. ‘Now, I feel much better, I can’t wait.”
“I am more than 93 kilos [205 pounds], feeling stronger” Khamzat Chimaev continued. “I just started to train with my team, and I will find [an opponent] to kill’¦ I’m healthy now, hungry again. I want to get back and smash somebody and make money.”
Khamzat Chimaev on UFC Return
‘I think it’s [the] right decision,’ Chimaev noted regarding his return. ‘I only did [three fights in the UFC], I didn’t show who I am. People still talk, ’˜Ah, he beat bulls**t guys.’ That makes me [feel] inside somewhere.”
“Now I have to show these people who I am and smash everybody, take my belt” Chamzat concluded, before making the outstanding claim that “I am MMA Mike Tyson. MMA Muhammad Ali. I’m going to show everybody.”
Chimaev also recently called out UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman.
‘All of you have lost, I’m undefeated and I’m the champ here,’ Chimaev stated on Twitter, whilst including an image of he and Kamaru Usman in a stand off.
Whilst Khamzat will need to continue his build in the 170 pound division, a Championship fight against Usman could be a major event down the line.
