UFC Welterweight contender Colby Covington recently took to Twitter to respond to comments made by division Champion Kamaru Usman. The 170 pound Champ suggested that Covington needs to ‘do more’ to earn a title shot at WW.
‘Show me some activity. Give me a reason” Usman said regarding Colby Covington to ESPN. “It’s not necessarily me. I know what I’m capable of doing, I’ve done it before, you can ask his jaw, I’ve done that before.”
‘Now, it’s for him to show the people that he deserves another chance to fight for the title” Usman continued. “You can’t sit back and say ’˜oh, I beat Tyron Woodley, that’s it, I deserve a shot at the title.’ No. That doesn’t get you a shot at the title.’
Colby Covington Reacts To Usman
‘Spoken like a true coward” Covington reacted angrily on Twitter. “[a coward] who doesn’t want to face the rightful #1 contender. The rankings have chosen and so have the people Marty.”
“Just say the truth” Colby Covington added. “You know you can’t win and you’d rather fight bums like Street Judas for easy pay checks.’
Kamaru Usman will be defending his UFC Welterweight Championship against Jorge Masvidal at UFC 261. Covington or Leon Edwards/Nate Diaz are likely the next challengers, dependent on how their next bouts play out.
