Heavyweight boxing great Dillian Whyte has stated his want to enter the world of Mixed Martial Arts. The UK fighter specifically mentioned that he wanted to head to UFC and take on the Heavyweight Champion, Francis Ngannou.
‘Imagine me going and winning the UFC heavyweight championship” Dillian Whyte recently said in an interview with talkSPORT. “I’d be the first boxer to ever do that and, with the stage of my career that I am, I can do that.”
‘As the interim heavyweight champion, going and winning the UFC undisputed heavyweight championship, I am definitely up for that” Whyte continued.
Dillian Whyte himself isn’t the only person who believes an Ngannou vs Whyte match would be box office. Matchroom Boxing CEO Eddie Hearn recently revealed that he and the UFC had a presser lined up that was nixed by Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Eddie Hearn on Dillian Whyte vs Francis Ngannou
‘I love Francis Ngannou” Hearn stated. “We almost had a presser with Dillian Whyte and him, but the UFC shut that down after we taped it.”
‘We do have the footage, though” Hearn continued. “I would love to see a double matchup with Ngannou and Dillian Whyte. One in the cage and one out of it.’
Francis Ngannou himself has recently said that a move to the boxing ring is on the cards for him.
‘I would like to fight other heavyweight boxers such as Tyson Fury,’ Ngannou said in an interview with TMZ Sports. ‘Absolutely, I’m open to that. Remember, boxing was my primary dream and I still have the fire and the dream inside me.’
