UFC Fighter and Welterweight Number 1 contender Jorge Masvidal made a surprise appearance over the weekend. The 170 pound fighter showed up, virtually, to the Jake Paul vs Ben Askren press conference.
Jake Paul, who is a YouTube star turned pro boxer, will be taking on Ben Askren in April. The fight between the 2-0 Paul and MMA/UFC veteran Askren will be taking place on April 17.Â
Jorge Masvidal has been helping Jake Paul prepare for the upcoming boxing match. Masvidal of course spectacularly knocked out Ben Askren back in 2019, hitting a knee right out of the gate that knocked out the wrestling specialist.
Jorge Masvidal on Ben Askren
Jake Paul Facetimed Masvidal during the press conference, with Jorge asking ‘he’s still alive?’ when he saw Ben Askren at the desk.
Masvidal further elaborated on his comments this week. Taking to Twitter, he wrote that “the individual I buried does not represent MMA. He represents all the hard core and casual crotch sniffers #andnew.”
Jorge Masvidal will be challenging for the UFC Welterweight Championship at UFC 261, taking on current Champion Kamaru Usman in a rematch from 2020. Masvidal will be entering the octagon with far more training time allotted than the week’s worth he had for the first bout.
