It was recently confirmed by UFC President Dana White that the upcoming UFC 261 event will be headlined by Kamaru Usman vs Jorge Masvidal 2. The show will be taking place on April 24 in Jacksonville, Florida in front of a capacity crowd. This will be the first UFC event in 13 months that will be taking place in front of a full crowd.
Kamaru Usman vs Jorge Masvidal 1 took place last year with Masvidal fighting on 8 days notice. Usman took the fight via unanimous decision, with Jorge Masvidal getting praise from fans for taking the Championship fight on such short notice.
Despite Masvidal now coming back with a full training camp, will he be able to contest the reigning 18-1 Champion? The oddsmakers seem to believe that Kamaru Usman will be taking the second fight decisively.
Kamaru Usman vs Masvidal Odds
According to betting site SportsBetting.ag, Usman opened on Monday as a -350 favourite. Masvidal is a +285 underdog. It’s interesting that Usman is still considered such a heavy favourite as Jorge returns with a full training camp behind him.
Usman is not however the heaviest favourite of the three Championship fights at UFC 261. Flyweight Champion Valentina Shevchenko comes in at -360 against Jessica Andrade, who herself is +295. Strawweight Champion Weili Zhang comes in at -200 against challenger Rose Namajunas who is +170.
