Khamzat Chimaev recently confirmed that he will be returning to the octagon. After Chimaev was forced to pull out of the March 13 fight against Leon Edwards he announced his retirement from the sport online.
The situation seems to change on an almost weekly basis. Chimaev announced at the start of March that he was going to fight in June. ‘Want to say thank you to Dana White and UFC, [for] giving me medical treatment and taking care of me first class. Thank you and I’m very grateful, see [you] in June.’
After this Khamzat Chimaev announced his retirement. ‘Thank you all so much for supporting me in my journey in this sport’ Chimaev wrote. ‘I think I’m done. It’s not the most important victory in this life.’
Now, back in late March, Chimaev revealed that he is coming back to ‘smash everybody.’ ‘Surprise surprise I’m coming back to smash everybody’ Khamzat Chimaev wrote on Twitter.
Khamzat Chimaev vs Kamaru Usman
Taking his shots further, Khamzat Chimaev has now called out UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman.
‘All of you have lost, I’m undefeated and I’m the champ here,’Â Chimaev stated on Twitter, whilst including an image of he and Kamaru Usman in a stand off.
Whilst Khamzat will need to continue his build in the 170 pound division, a Championship fight against Usman could be a major event down the line.
