UFC President Dana White recently confirmed that a Jorge Masvidal vs. Colby Covington fight could be possible in 2021. White recently spoke to ‘The Schmo’ and said that this was a bout we wanted to bring to the fans this year.
‘I don’t think Masvidal said, ’˜I don’t like that fight stylistically,’’ White stated. ‘We’re working on that fight. That’s the fight we want, too, and hopefully we’ll get that done this year, too. I’m telling you, we’ve got nothing but big fights all this year, so hopefully we can get a couple of these key ones buttoned up and done and start looking forward to them.’
The entertainment aspect of a Jorge Masvidal vs Covington fight is massively intriguing. These two men could easily talk fans into buying a PPV, and UFC are going to be looking to capitalise on as much as they can do as we hopefully start to see the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.
White also recently confirmed that he’s hoping to bring Khabib out of retirement for a fight against Conor McGregor. Speaking to the SHOUT! podcast, White would discuss the upcoming UFC 257 bout between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier. ‘When I fly out there, Khabib’s gonna be there, too. So I’m gonna meet with Khabib while I’m there. In a perfect world, if Conor wins this fight, I would love to see the rematch with him and Khabib.’
