UFC Lightweight fighter Tony Ferguson recently took to Instagram to confirm that he has made some changes behind the scenes. Ferguson is coming off of back-to-back losses against Justin Gaethje and Charles Oliveira; so the LW contender knew that he had to make changes going forward.

Tony Ferguson confirmed in a statement on Instagram that he has added Freddie Roach to his corner. Roach is regarded as being one of the greatest boxing trainers of all time; fighters such as Manny Pacquiao,  Miguel Cotto, Julio César Chávez Jr., James Toney and Georges St-Pierre have all trained under Roach.

“I used to not get hit” Tony Ferguson wrote. “Then I changed things up a bit. [I] had to figure it out after getting hit more and more each fight. [I] Decided not to take anymore unnecessary damage [and] made the mandatory changes.”

“[I] Promised My Faith/Family/Friends I would not take damage like the last few fights” Ferguson continued. When a corner of mine wouldn’t work on simple slip drills I knew I had to make changes. When a cornerman forgot water during the round mid fight I knew I had to make changes.”

“I got sick and tired of being sick and tired, I did something about it” Tony Ferguson proclaimed. “Quit bitchin’ & went to work. Lots of cool things coming up, [I’ve] been working hard.”

Tony Ferguson’s next fight has not yet been officially confirmed, however the UFC veteran will be looking to come back with a bang.
