UFC 289 Main Card

Headlining the UFC 289 main card, we have a compelling match between Amanda Nunes and Irene Aldana for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title Bout. Nunes, the reigning two-division UFC women’s champion, was originally set to fight Julianna Peña.

However, due to Peña’s injury, Aldana stepped in as a replacement. Nunes, with an MMA record of 22-5, is confident of her victory against Aldana, who stands at 14-6. Nunes has praised Aldana, stating that she’s a better and more challenging fighter than Peña’‹.

Co-Main Event

Next on the main card, we have Charles Oliveira facing Beneil Dariush. Oliveira, with an MMA record of 33-9, previously lost his title to Islam Makhachev at UFC 280.

However, he’s now ready to reclaim his status. He sees the match against Dariush, who is on an eight-fight winning streak, as a stepping stone to a title rematch against Makhachev’‹.

Remaining Fights on the Main Card

Mike Malott and Adam Fugitt are also set to compete. Malott (9-1-1) has proven his mettle with two first-round finishes since joining the UFC.

He’ll be fighting on home soil and is expected to use his power to counter Fugitt’s actions. Fugitt (9-3) has shown resilience by bouncing back from a knockout in his UFC debut with a win over Yusaku Kinoshita. Fugitt is a fierce competitor, known for seeking a finish, whether through knockout or submission’‹.

Rounding out the main card are the bouts between Dan Ige and Nate Landwehr, and Eryk Anders and Marc-Andre Barriault.
