In 1996 he feuded with the likes of Ric Flair, Konnan and Diamond Dallas Page over the United States Championship, eventually winning the belt at Starrcade.

After losing the title to Dean Malenko, Guerrero would enter acclaimed feuds with Chris Jericho and then Rey Mysterio over the WCW Cruiserweight Championship.

At Halloween Havoc, he faced Mysterio in a match many consider to be one of the best in the history of the company.

In his final couple of years of the company he would form the Latino World Order to go up against the New World Order, and also The Filthy Animals.

Towards the end of his tenure with WCW Guerrero was one of a number of wrestlers who had became disillusioned with like at the company due to a lack of push. He would eventually negotiate his release.

In 2000, he debuted in the WWF as a member of heel faction The Radicalz alongside Malenko, Benoit and Perry Saturn.

Guerrero actually dislocated his elbow in his first match in the WWF, resulting in him having to wear a sling for several weeks. After the Radicalz kayfabe lost their first matches, they aligned themselves with Triple H and D-Generation X to feud against the likes of The Rock, Kane and 2 Cool.

At the 2002 edition of Survivor Series, they won the Tag Team Championships in a triple threat match against Kurt Angle and Benoit plus Edge and Mysterio.

Though the pair used heel tactics to win matches, their ’˜Lie, Cheat, and Steal’ philosophy became a hit with the fans, which led to them turning babyface, though still using the aforementioned tactics.

When Chavo got injured, Guerrero teamed with Tajiri, though he would later turn on him to become heel again.

At Vengeance in 2003, he defeated Benoit for the United States Championship, and would turn babyface again to face heel John Cena, eventually defeating him in a Parking Lot Brawl. Chavo would then turn on Guerrero as the pair feuded into the Royal Rumble.

After winning a battle royal on Smackdown to win the number one contender for the WWE Championship, Guerrero went on to face Brock Lesnar at No Way Out, winning the title after interference from Goldberg.

At Wrestlemania 20, he retained the championship in a match against Kurt Angle, but would eventually lose the title at the Great American Bash against JBL.

Guerrero’s last meaningful feud was also one of his most famous, as he eventually took on Mysterio for kayfabe custody of his son Dominik in a Ladder Match at Summerslam.

After that feud he was named number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship and began to show more babyface qualities, refusing to use a steel chair on Batista which ultimately cost him the title match against the Animal at No Mercy.
