Backstage news on Vince McMahon’s position in WWE after recent allegations

Last updated

The wrestling world has been shaken by the story regarding the allegations made against WWE chairman Vince McMahon. The business within the company though is expected to carry on as usual, at least for now.

Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer (via Ringsidenews) said that the latest word is that both McMahon and John Laurinaitis are expected to be in attendance for SmackDown this Friday. The belief within the promotion is that it will be ‘business as usual’ in the company at least for the time being.

Regarding the prospect of Vince McMahon being forced out of his chairman role, Meltzer noted how Mr McMahon still holds a huge majority of the voting power through his shares. This means that he cannot be voted out and will continue in his role until he quits himself:

‘Another aspect of this is the board has power, but Vince, even though Vince does not own a majority of the stock, Vince owns, the way that the stock is set up, Vince owns a huge majority of the voting power, so it’s not like Vince can be voted out. He would have to resign or there would have to be outside pressure that would make Vince quit, which is one of the reasons why, like I said, he’s going like, ’˜It’s just business as usual.’’

Dave Meltzer also said that there are people within the company who believe that McMahon will survive this. What they are not sure about is the future of John Laurinaitis with the company.
