Rumor killer on big Brock Lesnar match for SummerSlam

Last updated

It appears fans will have to wait quite some time for the highly anticipated Brock Lesnar vs Gunther match.

The Intercontinental Champion has been on a dominant run since his main roster debut in April 2022. The Ring General has gone up against many notable names in this time and left only destruction in his wake.

The one name that has eluded him however is Brock Lesnar. The former NXT star has been outspoken about his respect for the Beast Incarnate but WWE has avoided booking this match so far. There had recently been rumors that this bout may finally take place at SummerSlam but latest reports suggest this won’t be the case.

No plans for Brock Lesnar vs Gunther

Dave Meltzer provided the latest update on plans for Brock Lesnar. In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, he wrote that right now, there are no plans for a Lesnar vs Gunther match:

“Right now there are no plans for Lesnar vs. Gunther at SummerSlam or Lesnar vs. Gunther any time soon. Of course that can change because it is a viable match but if Lesnar is scheduled on SummerSlam there is already a direction that isn’t Gunther.’

Meltzer would not indicate what the company has in store for the former Universal Champion for the upcoming PPV.

Considering that he is one of the biggest stars on the roster, it’s almost guaranteed that he will be featured in a major match at the show, so we’ll have to wait and see what the company has planned for him.
