CM Punk unsurprisingly made a huge amount of money from his UFC debut.

The former WWE Champion abruptly left the company in January 2014 due to creative differences among other issues. Punk’s sudden departure generated a lot of buzz and got people excited about his next move.

The wrestling veteran announced in December of that year that he had signed a multi-fight contract with UFC.

In January, the Straight Edge Star began training for his debut fight against Mickey Gall. This match however was delayed multiple times because Punk got injured while training.

CM Punk: The disappointing UFC debut

CM Punk’s MMA debut match finally took place at UFC 203 on September 10, 2016. Combat Sports website Bloody Elbow recently obtained some documents pertaining to the ongoing UFC antitrust lawsuit. Among other info, they revealed the amount of money Punk was paid for his appearance in 2016:

“While it might be hard to identify one of the 4 fighters who were paid $27,000 for their 7th fight in the UFC in 2016, it’s easier to surmise other the fighter debuting in the UFC in 2016 who was paid $1,042,736 for their match was CM Punk.”

The former AEW Champion would unfortunately be humiliated in his UFC debut. He lost early in the first round via rear naked choke submission. CM Punk lasted a total of 2 minutes and 14 seconds during his debut match, meaning that he was paid a whopping $7781.61 for every second of his fight.
