Eric Bischoff reacts to RIDICULOUS nWo claim from wrestling LEGEND

Last updated

The world of professional wrestling has always been rife with controversies, claims, and counterclaims. One such recent claim that has sent shockwaves through the wrestling community comes from WWE Hall of Famer, Larry Zbyszko. Larry, a legend in his own right, has made the audacious claim that he was the mastermind behind the iconic wrestling faction, the New World Order (nWo). However, Eric Bischoff, widely recognised as the driving force behind the nWo, has now come forward to address these claims.

Eric Bischoff, in a recent episode of 83 Weeks, responded to Larry Zbyszko’s assertions. While Bischoff expressed a deep fondness for Zbyszko, stating, “I have a strong affection for Larry. “I like Larry a lot, and I have great memories working with Larry and hanging around with Larry and flying aeroplanes with Larry,” he didn’t mince words when it came to refuting Larry’s claims about the nWo.

He went on to say, “However, that is the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard. Larry was never involved in creative.”

Eric Bischoff on Zbyszko’s Involvement in WCW

Bischoff further elaborated on Zbyszko’s role in WCW. He clarified that Larry was not a part of the WCW creative team and seldom made appearances at the CNN centre, the headquarters of Turner Broadcasting.

His involvement with WCW was primarily limited to post-production tasks related to announcing duties.

Bischoff emphasised, “Larry would have an idea here or there, most of the time it would involve Larry, by the way … any time Larry came to me with something, it always involved him getting back into the ring. That’s what Larry was focused on.”

The Origin of the nWo Name

While Bischoff was categorical in dismissing Zbyszko’s claims of inventing the nWo, he did give Larry some credit. Bischoff acknowledged that Zbyszko had once referred to the “New World Order” during a commentary on “WCW Monday Nitro”.

He said, “Larry did refer to the New World Order, not the New World Order as we came to know it, but Larry did make a comment at commentary at one point about the New World Order. And it did stick in my head and it came out.”

However, Bischoff was quick to add that when it came to the actual programming and planning of the nWo, Larry was in the dark. “Larry didn’t know anything about what was going on. I kept all of it a secret. I didn’t tell anybody. I didn’t tell my wife!” Bischoff exclaimed.
