Hall of Famer compares AEW roster to WCW: “A lot of things get lost in the shuffle”

One of the biggest reasons behind the demise of WCW was its bloated roster. During their later days, the company had more stars than they could feature on their programming and they were paying people just so they didn’t go to WWE. Booker T, who was part of the WCW roster back in the day, sees a lot of parallels between it and the current AEW roster.

The Hall of Famer talked about the AEW roster on his Hall of Fame podcast (H/t WrestlingInc). He discussed how AEW has a lot of guys they are trying to feature regularly:

‘Yeah, there’s been a lot of guys on the show. They try to get a lot of guys on that show and highlight as many things as they possibly can.

However, having these many people signed to the company also creates many problems. To Booker T, it reminds him of how WCW hired guys just to keep them away from WWE:

“A lot of things get lost in the shuffle, of course, in doing that. WCW, back in the day, they hired a bunch of guys, most of the guys, they just hired them just so they wouldn’t go to WWE. WCW had signed a bunch of guys and they were sitting at home, making money. They just didn’t want those guys to go to the WWE or back to WWE.’
