Former PROGRESS star Jonathan Gresham lost his Ring of Honor Pure Championship this weekend at the ROH Death Before Dishonor show from the ECW Arena in Philadelphia.

Speaking to WrestlingINC following the loss of his title to Josh Woods, Jonathan Gresham discussed how the Pure division is in ’˜good hands’ with the new Champion going forward.

‘I’m deflated, to say the least, but the Pure Division is now in good hands with Josh Woods,’ the former PROGRESS star began. ‘I just have to figure out what I need to do next because my goal is still purifying this company.’

‘I don’t necessarily think it needs to be thought about like that ’” the number one thing is keeping this company pure,’ Gresham added. ‘The owner of the Pure Championship must believe in the pure way. As long as Josh Woods stays loyal to that idea, Ring of Honor will be okay.’

Gresham last worked for PROGRESS at the Chapter 95 event Still Chasing. The Octopus of ROH took part in the Proteus Championship Battle Royale.

That event took place in September 2019, and the former PROGRESS Tag Team Champion in CCK has not been back due to the COVID-19 pandemic stopping international travel for almost 18 months.

Jonathan Gresham is set to face PROGRESS star Chris Ridgeway in an official ROH PURE Rules Match for Wrestle Carnival on October 9th. The full event will also be streaming to Ring of Honor Wrestling’s Week By Week show on YouTube.
