Karrion Kross’ WWE return could have huge implications for the world title picture.
The former NXT champion made a shocking return at SmackDown last night. He attacked Drew McIntyre and sent a warning to the WWE Universal champion Roman Reigns.
Later in the day, Fightful Select revealed a pitch that has been made for Kross. Per the report, officials have discussed letting Kross face Reigns for one of his titles instead of both the belts:
“Among the pitches we’ve learned is that Kross would be inserted into the Drew McIntyre-Roman Reigns feud and be involved in a match for one of Roman Reigns’ world titles, as opposed to both.”
Fightful says that USA Network wants a top title to be featured on Raw more often. Roman Reigns however, has made only sporadic appearances since defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38 and uniting the world titles.
The title unification has been a major hurdle for the creative team the last several months. Roman has resolved to a part time schedule in his new contract. He has only defended the championship a handful of times leaving a lot of potential candidates in a limbo.
The separation of titles will allow the company to give more opportunities to deserving talent and have a world champion to feature in the absence of the Tribal Chief.
