RVD is annoyed at wrestlers who do not kick out properly.
The rise of the internet and various social media sites has changed the wrestling business in many ways. On the one hand, it allows relatively unknown names to showcase their talent to a wider audience, but on the other hand, it has also made people more aware of the scripted nature of the business.
This change has led to the discovery of many talents but due to it many young wrestlers seem to also disregard the basics which veterans of the business don’t approve of.
RVD is annoyed at kick outs
The former WWE star recently opened up about one such thing that annoys him about current wrestling during his 1 of A Kind podcast (H/t Fightful). RVD explained that he hates when wrestlers don’t properly kick out at pin falls:
“Good fucking strong kick-out. You know what I hate now is when people don’t kick out. Every time I watch wrestling, I see it. They think just by kicking their feet that they kick out. But their shoulders are still down, and the person’s still on top of them. I hate that. It’s one of those things that annoys me when I watch wrestling.”
Mr Monday Night revealed that WWE used to do credibility checks on wrestlers to make sure such mistakes didn’t happen:
“Every once in a while, like when I was in WWE, they’d say the referee is the credibility. So from now on, you count them down if they don’t kick out.’ They haven’t done that in a while, and they need to. Credibility, they haven’t done a credibility check in years, and it used to be cycled all the time when I was there. But I guess it doesn’t matter anymore, I don’t know.”
