The Undertaker Used To Take Backstage Naps Inside Caskets

Any other person would be afraid of going inside the casket alive. The same rules apparently don’t apply to The Undertaker. Caskets have not only been associated with his on-screen character, but the former world champion even used it to take naps inside them backstage.

Taker revealed this tidbit during his appearance on Out Of Character. He explained that on the long, arduous days of TV production, you had hours where you wouldn’t be doing anything:

“We had some long, arduous days of TV production, you just have hours when you don’t do anything and on more than one occasion, I may or may not have pulled out a casket and took a nap in there and didn’t think anything about it.”

For anyone else, the inside of the casket would be terrifying. For The Undertaker, however, it was cold, dark and comfortable. Regarding the size of the casket, Taker mentioned how he faced off against some pretty big opponents early on in his wrestling career:

“It’s cold, dark and comfortable. I had some big caskets, some big opponents early on so I had some big caskets that they had around so they served a dual purpose at times.”
