The backstage drama in AEW is turning away a lot of viewers. Latest reports indicate that it could also lead to some stars leaving the promotion. Per the latest updates the company EVPs The Young Bucks recently showed interest in a potential WWE deal.
F4Wonline’s Ryan Frederick noted on the site’s message board that the report of The Bucks signing a new deal is untrue. According to him, AEW instead picked up the option to extend their contract. Before that, the duo did send out feelers to gauge WWE’s interest:
“They didn’t sign new deals. Their options were picked up. They did reach out to a talent to send feelers that they would be interested in talking about coming in when their deals are up. But, everyone on both sides are going to do the same because you want to look for the best deal. Anyone who doesn’t do so is dumb and possibly leaving money on the table.”
Frederick further noted that the feelers were sent out through talents because the contracts prohibit them from talking to WWE officials directly:
“They reached out to a talent to send feelers about coming it. I can’t say they talked to anyone direct at WWE, but that would fall under tampering and this came at the same time the legal letters were being sent about tampering.”
The Bucks are not expected to become free agents for at least a couple more years. With everything that’s been going on in AEW recently, it’s possible that they may seriously consider jumping ships when the time comes.
