This week’s episode of WWE RAW suffered greatly in the ratings due to the return of Monday Night Football and the Emmys.
The show has been drawing over 2 million viewers every week for the past couple of weeks, but the added competition this week caused the number to go down to an average of 1.7 million viewers.
According to a recent report from Fightful Select, staff backstage at the company actually expected the drop in ratings to be worse.
“We heard from several within WWE that expected the WWE Raw number to be lower than the 1.7 million that they landed this week” Fightful reported.
WWE RAW Ratings Drop
It remains to be seen if the company will be able to bounce back next week, but a drop of around 300 million viewers is still a pretty big deal.
When pro wrestling is hot, then Monday Night Football tends to not hurt it too much, but when wrestling is cold it’s a completely different story.
Arguably, WWE is hotter now than it has been in some time, so whilst those backstage are happy with the number, it is still a danger sign for the rest of the football season.
