WWE Superstar Asuka (real name Kanako Urai) is a former NXT and RAW Women’s Champion signed to WWE’s Monday Night RAW brand. Formerly known as Kana in Japan, Asuka began training as a professional wrestler in 2004, until she briefly retired in 2006, only to return in 2006.

Born on September 26, 1986, in Osaka, Japan, Asuka is now 41 years old and she stands at a height of 5ft 3ins tall (1.60m).

Asuka performed on the Japanese and North American independent circuits between 2011-2015, after which she signed for WWE to join the NXT brand. The ‘Empress of Tomorrow’ was first seen on WWE television as part of the NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn event in August 2015.

The Japanese Superstar made her in-ring debut on NXT in October 2015 at NXT TakeOver: Respect. The former Kana defeated Dana Brooke in her first-ever match inside of a WWE ring.

The ‘Empress of Tomorrow’ joined the WWE main roster in 2017, going on a long winning streak that culminated in a match against Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34. The match was for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship; with Flair giving The ‘Empress’ her first main roster WWE loss via submission. To this point, the former NXT Champion had an undefeated streak of 914 days.

Asuka has won both the RAW and SmackDown Women’s Championships whilst with WWE; as well as becoming the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion with both Kairi Sane and the aforementioned Flair.
